Tree of Life

2013

California Chestnut tree made from 13km of 9 gauge galvanised wire and stainless steel clips. Permanent installation. 6 x 5 x 5m.

Cornerstone Gardens, Sonoma, San Francisco, USA.

The tree is the centerpiece for landscape designer and sculptor Suzanne Biaggi’s Cornerstone Gardens installation called Ecology of Place. The garden explores the impact of the vineyard monoculture sweeping through the Napa valley. The wire vines and tree refer to the mechanisation of nature, the tree specifically referring to the future succession of endemic species.
